When Suncor recently opened a new oil sands mine near Fort McMurray the company engaged us to craft a custom case for their 3D model of the facility, the mine and all its associated buildings, for opening ceremonies. It was a tricky project because of the size – requiring a clear acrylic dome just 16 inches high but measuring 6’ by 8’. We created the dome in a specialized oven that allows us to shape such large pieces to precise specifications, and then set up tables the same size as the display to measure the dome on and ensure we had it just right before careful shipping.
