Clark Builders was leading a recent rehability of Edmonton City Hall’s roof. The 30-year-old roof was aging, and needed maintenance and some new materials to extend its lifespan and keep this important public building in good condition.
There were several Mac skylights in place on this roof, which we installed 30 years ago. They light up the main entrance and corridor and council chambers – reducing the need for artificial lighting and helping make these public areas more inviting.
Clark partnered with us to replace these skylights with new units. An inspection showed our old skylights were holding up well – leak-free and in good condition (if aging), with only minor upkeep work needed on the curbs that integrate them into the roof. We replaced the skylights with new acrylic and aluminum frame units, and anticipate they’ll provide good insulation qualities and leak-free performance while bringing light into this building for decades to come. Not having to replace the curbs reduced both the time and cost of this project, proving once again it pays to install good-quality skylights and bring in skilled installers for the work.
