These units are called “Oxalic Acid Vaporizers” and are manufactured by Sunshine Bees from our plastics.
Varroa mites are a huge problem for bees and beekeepers worldwide – they are one of the main reasons bees are threatened. Although there are some chemical treatments for mites, the bugs are becoming resistant to these products. Sunshine Bees has designed and is manufacturing Oxalic Acid Vaporizers and has started marketing them across North America. Oxalic Acid is an organic product naturally found in carrots, rhubarb, and many green leafy vegetables. When vaporized at the correct temperature (below 190 degrees C) it acts as an irritant, causing bees to self clean and killing mites.
“We have been working with Mac Plastics and have found them to be extremely helpful and resourceful. A pleasure to work with and my “go to” for any and all things plastic that we use in our vaporizers and beekeeping in General.” – John Carson, Sunshine Bees.
